On a scale of super cheap to cheap, I’ve just hit SUPER DUPER CHEAP.
I had to pick up milk and some cheese for the week, and as I left the grocery store I saw coupons the store prints out with certain purchases… blowing around in the parking lot. These coupons are usually pretty good, even throwing in $2.00 off your next grocery bill sometimes, so I started chasing them around.
I now had 10 dirty (but still good) coupons worth $34.75 total in groceries that my wife and I would buy anyway. I get home because my 20 minute scramble saved us a week’s worth of grocery money and my wife says, “you were late because of some coupons?”
I point out that my 20 minute delay is the same as me making $104.25 an hour, but she just sees dirty scraps of paper next to the cheese.
So my question today is this: How much money would it take to make you voluntarily delay yourself for 20 minutes?

11|Sep|2007 1Hey I’m right there with you! I’d have been picking them up too
Maybe I’d fight you for them…. hmm.

14|Sep|2007 2Awesome! I’d do the same thing. How much for 20 minutes, hummm? I’d chase down the coupons and let the value surprise me. Plus, I figure that it’s lots of bending and running, so there’s a good workout for you! Just the health benefit alone makes the chase worth it!

15|Sep|2007 3paidtwice, I would’ve really appreciated seeing someone out there picking up coupons too, I probably would’ve made a friend for life.
Cindy, thanks for pointing out the health benefits, although if it were a windy day I probably wouldn’t have bothered.
